Once a missing tooth meant an unsightly gap in your smile, or a single tooth denture. Bridges changed all that. Made of porcelain, they can replace missing teeth using the adjacent teeth to support them. These adjacent teeth are first prepared in the same way as crowns, then a bridge is made, linking an artificial tooth to a crown in a single unit. The bridge is bonded into place, where it looks and works like the original teeth.

Modern dentures – more realistic appearance, better fit

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth, but are removable instead of being fixed to the mouth. They can be made of plastic or metal cobolt chromium.

A ‘complete’ or ‘full’ denture is one which replaces all the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaw, whereas a ‘partial’ denture simply fills in the spaces left by lost teeth.
